The biggest difference between thermal insulation refractory materials and other refractory materials is their higher porosity. According to the temperature of use, it can be classified into three types:
(1) Low temperature insulation material, less than 600 ℃;
(2) Medium temperature insulation material, 600-1200 ℃;
(3) High temperature insulation material, above 1200 ℃.
There are two types of granular insulation materials: one is used directly without adding binders, and the other is filled directly into the insulation layer in the powder state with binders added. Such as hollow oxide spheres and lightweight refractory castables. Powdered thermal insulation refractory materials have the advantages of convenience and ease of construction in the manufacturing process of high-temperature kilns and other equipment. Composite insulation materials mainly refer to insulation refractory materials formed by the composite of fiber materials and other refractory materials. Commonly used ones include insulation boards and insulation coatings.
Fiber like insulation materials mainly refer to fibrous products and cotton like materials. The unique properties of fibrous insulation materials are their small mass and high elasticity. Commonly used materials include asbestos, fiberglass, etc.
