Clay bricks with a content of less than 55 are called neutral refractory materials, which are made by molding and firing bauxite or other materials with high alumina content. It has high thermal stability and a refractory temperature of around 1700 ° C. It is used as an inner lining for glass furnaces, cement rotary kilns, and steelmaking electric furnaces. Of course, there are also some high alumina clay bricks and high alumina brick products with high load softness, low creep, and low porosity. The proportion of materials is important in production according to different application needs.
High alumina bricks are mainly used for lining blast furnaces, hot blast stoves, electric furnace tops, blast furnaces, reverberatory furnaces, and rotary kilns. In addition, high alumina bricks are widely used as regenerative grid bricks for open hearth furnaces, plugs for pouring systems, and spout bricks.
High alumina bricks and clay bricks not only have different alumina contents, but their production processes are similar. However, in the matching process, the addition of clinker is relatively high, reaching 90-95%, and the firing temperature is much higher than that of clay bricks. In practical testing, first and second grade high alumina bricks are mostly used in tunnel kilns with temperatures between 1500-1600 ℃, blast furnaces, furnace tops, reverberatory furnaces, rotary kiln linings, and many other kilns.
The production process of high alumina bricks and clay bricks is the same in terms of process, but the specific compatibility of raw materials is different. The specific difference is reflected in the proportion of clinker in the ingredient list, which can be as high as 90-95%. Before crushing, the clinker needs to be classified and sorted, and the iron needs to be removed. The temperature during firing is also relatively high. Generally, high alumina bricks are fired in tunnel kilns at a temperature of 1500-1600 ℃. Through practical experience in the production workshop, it has been proven that grading, sorting, and storing high alumina clinker before crushing, and using the method of finely grinding bauxite clinker and bound clay together, can effectively improve product quality.
