The four excellent characteristics of high alumina castables are mainly manifested in:
1. The amount of cement used is low, and the calcium content in high alumina castables is only 1/4-1/3 of that in traditional refractory castables. Therefore, the number of low melting phases in low cement high alumina castables has been reduced, resulting in a significant improvement in high-temperature performance;
2. The construction water consumption is low, generally 6-7% of the weight of high alumina castable, therefore it has high density and low porosity;
3. Not only does it have high room temperature curing strength, but its strength does not decrease after medium and high temperature treatment, with a strength value of 3-5 times that of traditional refractory castables;
4. It has good volume stability at high temperatures. Although it is an unburned and unshaped refractory material, the volume shrinkage is small after drying and calcination.
