Mullite insulation brick is mainly made of high alumina bauxite clinker and a small amount of clay. The clay resources are well protected, so the emergence of mullite insulation bricks is a product of modern technology. Previously, aluminum was the only thing that could be used, but modern technology has made aluminum a resource that can be used to produce various products. The performance of mullite insulation bricks is very high, with a high degree of fire resistance that can withstand temperatures up to 1800 degrees Celsius. However, at temperatures between 1600 and 1700 degrees Celsius, the insulation bricks will begin to soften and will not burn. And its voltage resistance is also high, about limited to 260M/pa.
There are two types of bricks: sintered mullite bricks and fused mullite bricks. Sintered mullite bricks are mainly made from high alumina bauxite clinker, with a small amount of clay or raw alumina added as a binder, and are formed and fired. Electric melted mullite bricks are made from high alumina, industrial alumina, and refractory clay as raw materials, with the addition of charcoal or coke particles as reducing agents. After forming, they are manufactured using the reduction electric melting method. Sintered mullite has smaller crystals and better thermal shock resistance than fused mullite. Their high-temperature performance mainly depends on the content of alumina and the uniformity of the distribution of mullite phase and glass. Mainly used for blast furnace body and bottom, hot blast furnace top, glass melting furnace heat storage chamber, dead corner lining of petroleum cracking system, ceramic sintering kiln, etc. Mullite refractory bricks have the characteristics of high load softening temperature, dense structure, good corrosion resistance, and low porosity.
