Application of mullite brick in glass furnace(1)

Mar 10, 2023

1. Front gable

The front wall of the glass furnace is close to the batch area. Because the temperature in this area fluctuates greatly and the raw material dust is large, the conditions are relatively poor. The sintered mullite brick has good resistance to rapid cooling and heat, and has good resistance to batch dust erosion. Therefore, the hanging wall and the wing wall of the feeding port at this part can be designed to use the re-sintered fused it.

2. Neck

The neck is generally designed with a water bag and agitator. During equipment maintenance, there will be a large temperature difference in the neck space. Sintered it is a good design choice.

3. Upper wall of small furnace and regenerator

The use of fused zirconia corundum bricks in small furnaces is a good design choice at present. Because  especially those with fused mullite as raw material, also have good resistance to the erosion of mixture and alkali vapor, the sintered fused it may be used in small furnaces, at least in the next few pairs of small furnaces, to improve the operating environment of small furnaces and reduce the cost of this part. Similarly, the re-sintered fused it can also be used in the upper wall of the regenerator. Compared with the basic brick, the  has lower thermal conductivity and expansion coefficient, which can reduce the expansion deformation tendency of the kiln body and reduce the heat dissipation and thermal insulation cost of the kiln body.

4. Riser and tongue arch of small furnace of coal-fired glass furnace

As we all know, the bottleneck of the service life of the gas kiln lies in the small furnace. In the traditional design, the silica brick is equipped with the fused zirconia corundum brick tongue arch. Because the temperature here is lower than 1450 ℃, the silica brick is not a good choice to use in this part. This part is seriously eroded. The good corrosion resistance of the mullite brick can extend the service life of this part. In addition, the fused zirconia corundum brick is used for tongue arch. Due to its poor thermal shock stability, the re-sintered fused mullite brick may be a better choice.
