1,Knowledge of Semi-silica Brick:
Semi-silica brick is used between clay brick and silica brick.it's thermal shock resistance is better than silica brick.The shrinkage of clay is counteracted by quartz expansion in the course of use,as a result, the volume change of the product is small, sometimes slightly expanded,therefore, the air tightness of masonry is good.Another feature of the product is that when the high temperature slag contacts the brick surface, a layer of glazed material with high viscosity forms on the brick surface.,it's thickness is 1-2 mm, blocking the pore, preventing the slag from penetrating into the brick and forming a protective layer, which improves the corrosion resistance of the brick.
Semi-silica Brick has good resistance to acid slag, high temperature structural strength and relatively stable volume,for this reason, the products are mainly used in coke oven, acidified iron furnace, metallurgical furnace flue, ladle lining.
The typical and commonly used semi-silica brick products are paraffin bricks, which are white or grayish white,their high temperature properties are similar to clay bricks, and their refractoriness is between 1670~1710℃.
