The Use Of Additives And Binders In Ramming Materials

Aug 25, 2020

One of the key technologies of dry ramming lining materials is to select suitable additives. High purity refractories are usually sintered at higher temperatures, and additives can give the materials the desired initial strength and high temperature performance. The binder selection of refractory ramming material should be appropriate, some do not need binder, some only add a small amount of flux.

One of the key technologies of dry ramming lining materials is to select suitable additives. High purity refractories are usually sintered at higher temperatures, and additives can give the materials the desired initial strength and high temperature performance. The additive should not obviously reduce the refractory performance of the lining material, and the sintering has no effect on the integrity of the material. The commonly used additives are resin powder, Lin acid salt, flowing acid salt, pentanoic acid salt, silicate and oxide ultrafine powder. The sintering aids include acid, brine, sodium silicate, titanium dioxide and so on. At present, the most widely used additive is pentanoic acid.

The binder selection of refractory ramming material should be appropriate, some do not need binder, some only add a small amount of flux. Acid ramming materials commonly use sodium silicate, ethyl silicate, silica gel and other binders, among which dry ramming materials mostly use pentanoate; alkaline ramming materials commonly use magnesium chloride salt and sulfate; also often use high carbon organic compounds and temporary binders that can form carbon binding at high temperature. The dry ramming material is added with appropriate amount of flux containing iron.
