In the structure of industrial furnaces, a layer of insulation material with good thermal insulation is generally installed on the back of refractory materials that are directly in contact with high temperature (or in cases where they are directly in contact with high temperature environments). On the one hand, this can reduce heat loss of the furnace body, improve thermal efficiency, and at the same time, lower the temperature on the outer side of the furnace body and improve the surrounding environment of the furnace. This type of material is collectively referred to as thermal insulation material.
In industrial applications, insulation materials are usually divided into three categories: porous, fibrous, and particulate. In practical applications, the same insulation material can also be classified into fire-resistant and insulation categories based on whether it directly contacts high-temperature environments.
(1) Refractory lightweight materials. Lightweight refractory materials refer to refractory materials with high porosity, low bulk density, low thermal conductivity, and the ability to withstand certain temperatures and loads.
1) Porous lightweight refractory materials. The common porous lightweight refractory materials mainly include alumina hollow balls and products, zirconia hollow balls and products, high alumina polylight bricks, mullite insulation bricks, lightweight clay bricks, diatomaceous earth insulation bricks, lightweight silica bricks, etc.
2) Fiber based thermal insulation and refractory materials. The common fiber based thermal insulation and refractory materials mainly include ceramic fiber cotton and its products of various levels.
(2) Thermal insulation lightweight material. Thermal insulation lightweight materials are mainly used for thermal insulation and insulation in terms of usage and function, compared to fire-resistant lightweight materials. Commonly used on the back of refractory working layer materials, it plays a role in blocking the heat dissipation of the furnace and protecting the supporting steel structure of the furnace body, such as slag wool, calcium silicate board, and various insulation boards.
