Standard Acid Resistant Brick

Sep 02, 2024

Acid resistant brick is a ceramic product with strong acid resistance, widely used in industrial fields such as chemical, metallurgical, pharmaceutical, petroleum, and papermaking.
The main component of acid resistant bricks is silicon dioxide, which forms a large amount of multi alumina tourmaline under high temperature calcination. This is a substance with high acid resistance. Due to the compact structure and low water absorption rate of acid resistant bricks, they can withstand any concentration of alkaline medium at room temperature, but not high temperature molten alkali. Acid resistant bricks contain more than 70% silicon dioxide and are sintered. They are widely used in the chemical industry for building acid ditches, acid wells, acid storage tanks, and high acid loaded impact floors.

Characteristics of acid resistant bricks:

Acid resistant bricks are corrosion-resistant materials made mainly from quartz, feldspar, and clay through high-temperature oxidation and decomposition. They have high acid and alkali resistance, low water absorption, are not easily oxidized at room temperature, and are not easily contaminated by media. In addition to hydrofluoric acid and hot phosphoric acid, they have excellent anti-corrosion effects on acids such as warm chloride salt water, salt acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and any concentration of alkali at room temperature.

The raw materials for acid resistant bricks are clay and other non-metallic materials, with silicon dioxide as the main production material, which is formed through a series of sintering and processing processes. It has significant characteristics of acid and corrosion resistance, and can be distinguished by observing whether it contains silicon dioxide elements from its composition. Secondly, from the appearance, it can be seen whether there are cracks or defects in acid resistant bricks. Generally, cracks are common on the glaze surface of acid resistant bricks. Even if there are no glaze cracks, attention should be paid to whether there are spots, missing glaze, dry glaze, and other phenomena that occur. These situations are all caused by non-compliance during the construction process. Finally, it can be judged from the specifications of acid resistant bricks. The specifications of acid resistant bricks all have certain sizes, which are convenient for neat and beautiful laying. If there are inconsistencies in the dimensions within the specifications, it is also one of the manifestations of acid resistant bricks not meeting the standards. In addition, regular acid resistant bricks will produce a clear sound when lightly tapped on the back of the brick body with fingers, and the back will also have a back pattern of no less than one centimeter. Only when these meet the standards can they be considered qualified acid resistant bricks.
