Refractory Materials For Casting Materials in Blast Furnace Tapping Channels

Mar 15, 2024

The blast furnace tapping channel is a channel for leading out molten iron or slag. The refractory injection material of the blast furnace tapping channel is to ensure the safe, stable, and efficient operation of the tapping channel. The commonly used refractory materials for tapping channels include ramming material, casting material, and vibrating material, mainly Al2O3-SiC-C aluminum silicon carbide carbon.

The inner lining of the iron tapping ditch should have the following properties:

1. Resistant to erosion and erosion by molten iron and slag;

2. Good thermal shock stability and minimal volume change during reburning;

3. Strong antioxidant capacity;

4. Non stick slag iron, does not produce harmful gases, and is easy to construct.

The performance of aluminum silicon carbide carbon refractory materials mainly comes from silicon carbide and carbon, among which carbon has the characteristics of being less easily wetted by high-temperature slag, low expansion, and high thermal conductivity. Therefore, the introduction of carbon can significantly improve the thermal shock stability and corrosion resistance of castables
