A crucible is a vessel or melting pot made of extremely refractory materials (e.g. clay, graphite, porcelain clay or hard to melt metal). It is mainly used for evaporation, concentration or crystallization of solution and burning solid substances.
When there is a solid to be heated by fire, always use a crucible.
