What Is The Density Of High Alumina Bricks? How To Choose?

Oct 23, 2025

news-262-285

The density of high alumina bricks is determined by their price. Generally, the density is between 2.3-2.5g/cm3, and the higher the density, the more expensive the price. First grade high alumina bricks generally require a density of 2.4 or above in the industry, which is sufficient.

High alumina bricks are divided into four grades based on their aluminum content. Grade III high alumina bricks have an aluminum content of not less than 55%, Grade II high alumina bricks have an aluminum content of not less than 65%, Grade I high alumina bricks have an aluminum content of not less than 75%, and Grade I high alumina bricks have an aluminum content of over 85%. As for the shape of high alumina bricks, in addition to standard high alumina bricks, there are also universal high alumina bricks, also known as special shaped high alumina bricks. If the shape is very irregular, it is usually called special shaped high alumina bricks. In short, it is customized according to the specific use of the kiln.

How to choose the particle size of high alumina bricks?

The size of particles is necessary for the production of high alumina bricks, and they need to be shaped according to the grade of high alumina bricks being produced and then mixed with certain ingredients. If the coarse particle size and quantity are appropriately increased, the bulk density of the ingredients can be improved and it is easy to form. During firing, the secondary mullite reaction around the material is weak and easy to sinter. However, there is also a certain limit to enlarging the particle size. If enlarged to 4-5mm, it is prone to missing edges and corners, and the uniformity of the tissue is affected. Therefore, a particle size of 3mm is recommended for large particles.
