The Main Differences Between Mullite Bricks And High Alumina Brick

The main difference between mullite bricks and high alumina bricks lies in their material composition, physical properties, and application scope.

Material composition:

The main crystal phase of mullite bricks is mullite, and the alumina content is usually between 65% and 75%, while the main component of high alumina bricks is alumina, with an alumina content generally between 48% and 80%.

Physical properties:

Mullite bricks have the characteristics of lightweight, high strength, good permeability resistance and thermal insulation performance. The starting temperature of load softening is between 1600-1700 ℃, which is higher than that of high alumina bricks. High alumina bricks have the characteristics of high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, corrosion resistance, and high mechanical strength. The starting temperature for load softening is generally around 1400 ℃, lower than that of mullite bricks.

Application scope:

Molybdenum bricks are suitable for building insulation and heat preservation, especially in high-rise buildings such as residential and office buildings, while high alumina bricks are suitable for high-temperature working environments such as steel, refining, metallurgy, power, and chip manufacturing industries.

Mullite bricks and high alumina bricks each have their own advantages and are suitable for different boilers and kilns.
