The Demand For Refractory Materials in Traditional Rotary Kilns

Sep 23, 2025

news-444-290

The early traditional rotary kilns were wet kilns for slurry calcination and dry kilns for powder calcination, as well as waste heat boiler kilns, generally equipped with single cylinder and multi cylinder cooling machines. The heat consumption of the kiln is above 6500kJ/kg clinker, and the calcination temperature of clinker in the kiln is generally lower than 1350 ℃. Ordinary high alumina bricks are used for the firing zone, while clay bricks are used for the rest. Subsequently, the use of Lipol heating machines and matching grate coolers using kiln exhaust gas has reduced the heat consumption to around 5000kJ/kg clinker. The calcination temperature of clinker exceeds 1350 ℃, requiring new varieties of refractory bricks with high refractoriness, resistance to clinker chemical erosion, and strong seismic performance. At this time, special high alumina bricks, phosphate bricks, and ordinary magnesia alkaline bricks have emerged, which meet production needs and further improve the service life of traditional kiln lining materials, and have been widely promoted and applied.
