Due to the low interdiffusion rate of AL3+and Si4+in the mullite lattice, the sintering properties of mullite obtained by electric melting and sintering methods using mullite powder as raw material are poor. In order to obtain high-performance mullite, its calcination temperature is about 1700 ℃. Such a high firing temperature greatly increases production costs. Therefore, people have been reducing its firing temperature by refining the added raw materials or introducing sintering aids. However, improving its sintering performance through refining the raw materials is limited. Therefore, sintering aids (TiO2, Y2O3, MnO) are mainly introduced to replace AI3+in the mullite solid solution, causing crystal lattice distortion of mullite crystals, activating the lattice or forming a low-temperature liquid phase to increase the diffusion coefficient and reduce the sintering temperature of mullite.
