The selection of refractory materials for the working lining varies depending on the type of steel used in ladle smelting. When smelting low-carbon steel and aluminum killed steel, aluminum spinel bricks, aluminum spinel castables, or low-carbon magnesia carbon bricks should be used as the working layer. When smelting steel grades with high manganese and oxygen content, magnesia carbon bricks and aluminum magnesia carbon bricks should be used as the working layer. Spraying materials made of magnesium should be used. For smelting special steel grades with low P and low S, dolomite bricks should be used as the working layer
Refractory materials used in ladle slag line area, ladle bottom, ladle wall and other working layers must have good performance of high temperature resistance, slag corrosion resistance, thermal shock resistance, and spalling resistance. The ladle is operated intermittently, and the temperature changes frequently from high to low, from low to high. Therefore, refractory materials used for lining must also have good performance of rapid cooling and heat resistance.
