For electric furnace melting, the core of carburizing technology is to use high-quality carburizing agent. Referring to relevant data, it is considered that the selected carburizer should have the following characteristics.
(1) Only after high temperature treatment, carbon atoms can be changed from disordered to sheet arrangement, and flake graphite can become the best core of graphite nucleation and promote graphitization.
(2) The sulfur content of good carburizers is very low, WS less than 0.03% is an important index.
(3) The porosity of the carburizer is also very important for the carburizing effect and the absorption rate of the carburizer. Therefore, the carburizing effect of the high temperature graphitized petroleum coke is better than that of the graphite electrode.
(4) Due to the lower calcining temperature, the sulfur content of calcined petroleum coke carburizer is higher than that of graphitized carburizer, generally less than 1%, which can be used in the production of some gray iron castings.
(5) Calcined coal carburizer is obtained by calcining high-quality anthracite in calciner at 1200-1300 ℃. Black granular, metallic luster, fixed carbon 85-93. The content of sulfur and nitrogen is moderate
