ASC brick, namely Al2O3-SiC-C brick, is a special refractory brick for torpedo tank. It is divided into three levels, which are used in the impact area, top and molten iron area of torpedo tank respectively. ASC bricks are divided into corundum bauxite based and andalusite based. Andalusite based ASC bricks have better service performance than corundum bauxite based ASC bricks, with better spalling resistance and molten iron slag corrosion resistance, but the price is higher than that of corundum bauxite based ASC bricks. Andalusite based ASC bricks are often used in steel plants in European countries.
According to the use requirements of torpedo tanks, ASC bricks as lining refractory bricks must have the following properties
1. Good resistance to molten iron slag corrosion, especially at the slag line
2. Good heat shock resistance and spalling resistance
3. It has high strength, erosion resistance and wear resistance, especially in the impact area
Corundum bauxite based ASC bricks are made of fused corundum, super grade bauxite with high Al2O3 and low SiO2, fused silicon carbide and high-quality graphite as the main raw materials. They are formed under high pressure and baked at 200 ℃. They are non fired firebricks and have been used for more than 1000 times
Andalusite based ASC bricks are made from South African andalusite, fused corundum, fused silicon carbide, high-quality graphite and antioxidants. Because of their better erosion resistance, spalling resistance and molten iron slag corrosion resistance, they have been used for more than 1200 times
