Magnesia brick is an alkaline refractory. The main raw materials are sintered magnesia and fused magnesia. In order to improve the properties of magnesia brick, Al2O3 and TiO2 are added in production. When two magnesia ingredients are selected, high-quality magnesia with high purity is better added in the form of fine powder to improve the slag resistance and permeability of the product. The binder is usually pulp, brine and magnesium sulfate solution, with an addition amount of about 3%.
Magnesia brick is fired in weak oxidizing atmosphere at 1500-1600 ℃.
Magnesia brick is often used in steelmaking furnace lining, ferroalloy furnace, nonferrous metal smelting, lime kiln and glass kiln regenerator because of its good high-temperature performance and strong alkali slag resistance.
