Production And Application Of Pyrophyllite Brick

Mar 29, 2022

Pyrophyllite is a kind of clay mineral. Its hardness is 1-2 and contains 30-39% Al2O3. Its hardness and compressive strength increase with the increase of heating temperature. When pyrophyllite is heated above 700 ℃, its volume expands, but the expansion rate is low. At 1.2-2.1%, pyrophyllite contains less structural water, slow dehydration speed and long dehydration process. Therefore, pyrophyllite can be directly made into unburned refractory bricks. Pyrophyllite refractory brick made of pyrophyllite can reduce brick joints due to thermal expansion. Another feature is that it does not hang slag, has strong slag erosion resistance and smooth working surface. It is used as lining brick for steel barrel with good effect.
