Classification Of Magnesium Chromium Brick

According to different production methods, magnesium chromium bricks are divided into ordinary bricks, directly bonded bricks, co fired bricks, re bonded bricks, and cast bricks.
Ordinary magnesium chromium bricks are traditional products, fired at temperatures ranging from 1550 ℃ to 1600 ℃. There is little direct bonding between chromite particles and periclase, resulting in poor mechanical properties and slag corrosion resistance of the bricks.
Direct bonding of magnesia chromium bricks refers to the direct contact between chromium ore particles and periclase, which gives the bricks high high-temperature strength, slag resistance, corrosion resistance, erosion resistance, good thermal shock stability, and volume stability at 1800 ℃.
Co sintered magnesium chromium bricks are produced from co sintered materials, and their direct bonding and microstructure uniformity are better than those of direct bonded bricks. They have better high-temperature strength, temperature resistance, and slag resistance.
Combined magnesium chromium bricks are made from a mixture of fused magnesium chromium powder and then fired at high temperatures. Their characteristics are highly direct bonding and the presence of a large amount of spinel phase, which reduces the thermal shock coefficient, improves thermal shock resistance, and improves resistance to acidic and alkaline slag.
Casting magnesium chromium bricks involves melting a mixture of magnesium sand and chromium ore in an electric arc furnace, and then injecting the melt into the mold to form stable periclase and spinel phases. Its high density makes the slag less permeable, resulting in better slag corrosion resistance but poorer thermal shock resistance.
