Refractory plastic is made of 70-80% granular and powdery refractory, 10-25% plastic clay and appropriate plasticizer. It is an amorphous refractory in the form of hard mud paste and maintains high plasticity for a long time. The product types are clay, high alumina, silicon, magnesia, zircon, silicon carbide, etc.
In order to ensure the smooth construction and normal use of plastic materials under high temperature, the following properties must be possessed:
1. Good plasticity
2. It has a certain shelf life to ensure good molding performance
3. Oxidation at room temperature has a certain strength to facilitate mold removal
4. It has certain high temperature volume stability to prevent damage to the furnace lining structure
The selection of binder has a certain impact on the plastic. Instead of hydraulic binder, thermal or pneumatic binder can be selected. If pneumatic binder is used, sealing measures shall be taken and retarder shall be added during storage. Common binders include plastic clay, water glass, phosphoric acid or phosphate.
