Alkaline Refractory Materials For New Building Materials

Alkaline refractory materials mainly refer to refractory materials mainly composed of magnesium oxide and calcium oxide, which have strong corrosion resistance to alkaline slag. Including magnesia bricks, magnesia aluminum bricks, magnesia chromium bricks, dolomite bricks, etc. (see magnesia bricks).

Magnesia bricks are commonly used. Magnesium bricks containing over 80% to 85% magnesium oxide have good resistance to alkaline slag and iron slag, and their fire resistance is higher than clay bricks and silica bricks. Mainly used in open hearth furnaces, oxygen blowing converters, electric furnaces, non-ferrous metal smelting equipment, and some high-temperature equipment.

Characteristics of alkaline refractory materials

Inorganic non-metallic materials with a fire resistance higher than 1580 ℃. Fire resistance refers to the Celsius temperature at which a conical specimen of refractory material can resist high temperatures without softening and melting under no load. Refractory materials and high-temperature technology emerged together, roughly dating back to the mid Bronze Age. During the Eastern Han Dynasty in China, clay refractory materials were already used as kiln materials and caskets for firing porcelain. At the beginning of the 20th century, refractory materials developed towards high purity, high density, and ultra-high temperature products, while at the same time, amorphous refractory materials and refractory fibers emerged that did not require firing and had low energy consumption. In modern times, with the development of atomic energy technology, space technology, and new energy technology, refractory materials with comprehensive excellent properties such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, thermal vibration resistance, and erosion resistance have been applied.
